For Tracy and Molly (except the creepy bits) with a bit of public school math thrown in to make it dramatrue

This mansion precedes the ability to photograph its memories
its timbers have a good 80 years on the daguerreotype

a photo would better tell the stories born out with heaps of dying and dead roses on your floor.

a silver nitrate artifact, an unavailable abstract from language holds a more proper story of the ephemeral shadows marking your final evenings.

stray lamplight, sublimated into dark, right across your satin form, languishing, savoring a cough in the front window.

Why should you dwell and linger in such a sorry state? Is there some additional romance and satisfaction in this elegant wasting?

What has brought me back to this moment, a wish - gone awry - for a better image of a happier time?

Why should I savor this moment, be stuck with the scent of dead roses in my mind while trying to better describe the diorama of your death?

My dear, what are you hoping the night will bring?
What are you dreaming of this Hollow’s Eve?

There are 9 shadows alone in this room that conspire together to form the scene in my mind, and shame on me, yet I’d rather spend the time describing them than tell the saga of happiness that was your life.

This shadow hides the scar on your right hand from your strict education
This shadow hides a swarm of freckles on your shoulder from a summers youth in the sun
This shadow hides hips shaped by years of strict ballet
This shadow hides the recent years sadness in your eyes
This shadow hides the locket your mother gave you on our wedding day
This shadow hides how your hair never quite went from chestnut to grey
This shadow hides that single flower that you leave aside for me nightly
This shadow hides the path worn in the wood floor that you wore while pacing, waiting for our son to return from war.
This shadow hides a final breath on your lips,
And that shadow hides that breaths’ apology.

STORM IN PROGRESS: A severe geomagnetic storm is in progress on Oct. 30th. It began at approximately 1700 UT when a coronal mass ejection (CME) swept past Earth. The CME (movie) was hurled toward our planet yesterday by an X10-class explosion from giant sunspot 486. Sky watchers at all latitudes should be alert for auroras.

BRIGHT AURORAS: Oct. 29th was a great day for sky watchers. A CME hit Earth's magnetic field and triggered an extreme geomagnetic storm. In the United States, Northern Lights appeared as far south as Florida, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas.
