weekends in Portland

which is not something I do all that often. In fact almost never.

BUT!

this weekend, I did head down to Portland for a studio recording workshop.

Item #1

I have a rather large crush on a woman I met down there, but seeing as I met her in a professional situation, I'm unsure of a proper way to use my connections to get her phone #.

Item #2

I discovered Powell's Books.

OMFG.

You would think, coming from a family that was in the book business, that the largest book brick and mortar book store in the Americas (if not the world) would have been on my rader screen.
Nope.

But here's the thing, I already take it for granted. I mean, if we live in a world where it's commonplace for a $300 million can be spent to build a football stadium, or a pyramid shaped Hotel/Casino, why should it be out of the ordianry for a Book store to occupy a city block?

Item #3

BenLau Rocks!
thanks dude.

Item #4

When I lived in AZ, one of my closest buddies was Gina DonDero. starting about a year before I moved, we didn't keep in touch as much as we had been. Sometime before I moved north, she met a guy and moved to Portland. I've seen her once in the last 5 years, and that was the day I drove through Portland while moving to Seattle.

Since then, she's married the guy (whom is DREAMY! I can't approve more of this guy) and had a kid.

Knowing I was going to be in Portland, I gave her a call last week and made plans to hang out. Her son is a champ, her husband is a Catch if there ever was one, and their house is amazing.

the cherry on the sundae is that Gina's got her head on her shoulders, which is something she never quite managed while living in AZ

It's great to know your peeps are hanging in there.

Item #5

I just found a Re-bar matchbook in my house with the Barron's email address on the inside. Of course, the only logical explanation is that out there, somewhere in the Hipster Wilds of Seattle, The Barron is still wating in vain for some hottie he Met at 'Brent or Brenda' to email hime for coffee.

Right?
