the vicious cirlce of universe can not be reduced to a bumper sticker!

here's the deal...

I'd not seen my friend 'Cowboy Herb' for 3 or 4 months.... not since he went to Atlanta to do a show.... we had been talking about making a short film together.

so last week, I called him and left the standard 'hey dude, let's grab a beer and catch up' msg.

Bitch never called me back!

so last night @ Spin The Bottle he and his new band were playing, and at the intermission raffle, Cowboy Herb decided to offer up a date with himself (at the Space Needle to boot!) as one of the prizes. and it gets better.... the winner gets to invite -7- friends on the going up top on the space needle part of the date

Thus I proceeded to purchase many, many tickets.

Guess who won?

so here's the deal.... A short film is going to be made of the date when it happens, and I'm going to extend 6 of the space needle tickets to those who comment here. (the 7th goes to Freesia 'cause she was gonna kill me for winning the date with Cowboy Herb out from under her)

Oh, PS... the counter on my comments are no longer working, but the commenting part itself works just fine.

oh. how. appropriate.

You are blue. You are somewhat innocent, in the fact that your genius only extends to the physical world. You have a false sense of contentness. You are usually the quiet one, the genius. Everyone can count on you to help when they have problems, but you only fall short of being able to solve your own.

What inner color are you?

YES!!!

what a party!

Last night was the Gala Opening for McCaw hall, which is the new opera house in Seattle.

Our company produced a 20 min film for the event, so we all had tickets. Thus The crew from Ye Olde Mutt got all blacktied and cocktailed out and went to the bash.

WOW!

(confidential to Molly: While the colours ARE still garish, in context they read fairly muted and do not make with the quease like I had thought they would)

It really is a lovely hall. great acoustics, HUGE stage and a stage left wing twice the size of the stage itself (when you include the loading dock). The trap/storage room is almost the same size as stage and SL wing combined.

The program was an hour long series of shorts from the Ballet (midsummer/Silver Lining etc) and Opera (Tosca/Jane Eaglan singing Wagner) and the first ever collaboration between PNB and Seattle Opera with a small bit from Carmina Burana. All this was interspersed with the films... WHICH PEOPLE LOVED!!!

After that pretty much the entire building was turned into a party zone.

Seattle is not really a town that throws many Black Tie Gala's... and this was probably the largest one since the opening of Benaroya Hall a few years back.... so it was fun to see everyone is their finery.... Seattle is probably one of the few places where you would see the cocktail dress crowd flaunting their tattoos.

The best part of the evening though was that Elizabeth's plaque is in a FABULOUS location... right in the center of the lobby, easily seen while perusing the wall of donors.

Some of you might know that I was supposed to be contributing artisitcally to the opening week festivities, but the producer for the event was being sketchy on my schedule and budget, and treating me with and ever increasingly lack of respect (this was not a personal issue, it was mainly due to a sever case of Crazy Headless Chicken Over Budget Dancing). Because of Elizabeth and her passion working with Seattle Opera, this was a VERY important gig for me. but due to the impending stress and lack of information and resources to do the job I was hired to do, I was about a day away from just walking away from the gig.... and then I got the call to donate... thus negating all other stress.
